Kudos going out to Land's End for an improved selection of their swimwear with mastectomy options.
A few years ago, I searched high and low, looking for a mastectomy swimsuit that didn't come off as something that my grandma (or even my own (step)mom) would wear.
Tried online, tried local brick and mortar...nothing. Tried a local "specialty" shop. Nada.
I had received a catalog from Land's End and noticed a couple of choices that "might" appeal to my age/mindset.
I was able to use something called My Virtual Model that allowed me to use online tools to create the most perfect "fit" for my body shape.
I found a two piece tankini set that had prosthesis pockets and I just have to say that I was very pleased with my suit and the way it fit. I purchased two different "bottoms" to go with the top for a bit more flexibility.
At that time a few years back, I sent Land's End feedback and made a request/suggestion for them to consider having more of their swimsuits available with the prosthesis pocket option.
Fast forward to last week. I got a new Land's End catalog and was very pleased to see that they now offer a greater variety of their swimsuits with this option.
WOOHOO!!!
This is the top I picked out: Adjustable Tunic Swim Top
And this is the bottom I picked out: Swim Mini
The bottom looks kinda "boxy" from the image on the website. I don't think it will be, as it is very similar to one of the bottoms I ordered previously.
So, for all you gals out there that have chosen to not have reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy, check out Land's End for some good swimsuit choices.
